Other Calculators

The useful tools that resist tidy classification — motorcycle and interest-only loans, Boyle's Law, medical RVU reimbursement, eDPI, snow-day odds and numerology.

Why This Category Exists

Every well-organised site eventually needs a drawer for the things that do not fit. This is that drawer, and the tools in it are here for honest reasons rather than lazy ones — each is genuinely useful and genuinely awkward to file.

Two are finance tools with specific enough audiences to warrant their own home: a motorcycle loan calculator and an interest-only loan calculator, the latter modelling a structure most general loan tools ignore. Boyle's Law is straightforward gas physics. The RVU calculator estimates work Relative Value Units and Medicare reimbursement — a professional tool for medical billing that would look distinctly out of place among consumer health calculators. The eDPI calculator normalises mouse sensitivity across FPS games. The snow day calculator predicts school closures from live weather and historical patterns. And the angel number calculator handles numerology, which we will be upfront about below.

If a tool here grows into a cluster — more gas law tools, more medical billing utilities — it earns its own category. Until then, it lives here where it can still be found.

What Each of These Actually Calculates

Interest-only loans have two distinct phases, and that is the whole point. During the interest-only period you pay purely the interest — the principal does not move at all. When that period ends, the full balance must be amortised over the remaining term, and the payment jumps, often steeply. The calculator models both phases separately because the payment shock at the transition is the single most important number in the product, and the one most likely to be glossed over at the point of sale.

Boyle's Law is an inverse relationship at constant temperature. P₁V₁ = P₂V₂ — squeeze a fixed quantity of gas into half the volume and the pressure doubles. It holds for ideal gases at constant temperature, which is a real caveat: compress a gas quickly and it heats up, and the relationship needs the fuller ideal gas law. For the standard textbook problems it is exact and immediate. Related physics lives in the Physics category.

RVUs price medical work by effort rather than by time. The Medicare system assigns each procedure code a work RVU reflecting the effort and skill involved, then multiplies total RVUs by an annually published conversion factor to produce reimbursement. The calculator estimates both wRVU totals and payment. Two caveats matter: the conversion factor changes yearly, and geographic practice cost indices adjust payment by locality — so treat the output as an estimate for planning rather than a billing figure.

eDPI makes sensitivity comparable. Multiply mouse DPI by in-game sensitivity and you get a single number that means the same thing across setups: eDPI. Without it, "I play at 0.4 sensitivity" is meaningless, because 0.4 on an 800 DPI mouse is half the speed of 0.4 on a 1600 DPI mouse. This is why pro players publish eDPI rather than raw sensitivity, and how you copy a pro's aim settings onto your own hardware.

Snow day prediction is probability, not prophecy. The tool weighs forecast snowfall, temperature and timing against how districts have historically behaved. It produces a likelihood — closures are ultimately a human decision made by a superintendent at 5am, and no model captures that perfectly.

Numerology is entertainment, and we will say so. The angel number calculator reduces your birthdate to a Life Path number using standard numerological rules. It applies those rules correctly and consistently. It has no predictive or scientific basis, and we would rather state that plainly than dress it up — plenty of people enjoy it knowing exactly what it is.

Who Uses These

Understanding an interest-only offer

The introductory payment looks affordable. Modelling both phases shows what the payment becomes when the interest-only window closes — the number that actually determines whether the loan is manageable.

Copying a pro's aim settings

Their sensitivity means nothing until you account for their DPI. eDPI converts their setup to yours so the feel transfers rather than the digits.

Estimating clinical productivity

A practice manager projecting wRVU totals and expected Medicare reimbursement for a procedure mix — the standard currency of physician compensation planning.

Working a gas law problem

A cylinder is compressed to a third of its volume at constant temperature. Boyle's Law gives the resulting pressure directly.

Other Calculators: Common Questions

Why are these tools not in their obvious categories?

Mostly because they are the only member of their kind. A single medical billing tool would be lost among consumer health calculators, and one gas law calculator does not make a chemistry section. When a cluster forms around any of these, it graduates to its own category.

Why is an interest-only loan calculator separate from the finance loan tools?

Because it models a two-phase structure that standard amortisation calculators do not handle: a period where principal does not reduce at all, followed by a compressed repayment phase with a much higher payment. Folding that into a general loan tool would confuse the common case.

How accurate is the RVU reimbursement estimate?

It is a planning estimate. The Medicare conversion factor is revised annually and payment is adjusted by geographic practice cost indices, so actual reimbursement varies by locality and year. Use it for projections, not for billing.

Is the angel number calculator based on anything real?

It applies standard numerological rules to your birthdate correctly and consistently. Those rules have no scientific basis, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It is here as entertainment, and it is honest about being entertainment.
